My Mum doesn’t really wear makeup that much, and when she does she wants it to be quick, effortless and very easy. She will never be blending 5 eye shadows or mixing lipsticks together.
After analysing her lifestyle and listening to her concerns, here are the four products we’ve added to her routine (she does use foundation and mascara for special occasions or when she is feeling like it). She has great skin, especially for her age, and dark lashes and eye brows so we’ve decided that a bit of concealer, and colour for the lips and cheeks will be enough. I’ve also insisted on
Sometimes it feels really weird that I love makeup. My Mum couldn’t care less about it, and I did not really read glossy magazines or watch beauty shows on TV growing up. (I did do it all but it was when I already knew that I love all things beauty).
My Mum did have quite a few lipsticks and a mascara but she was not obsessed with all those things and wore makeup only for special occasions. She did like perfume though, as long as I remember.
So I’ve decided to ask her what makeup products she truly loves. And since I’ve mentioned perfume – her most used one these days.
Before I start I have to mention that she does use foundation and mascara occasionally but she doesn’t really have a favourite and would just use whichever [I give her]. However, the products shown above she loves and uses on a regular basis.
As you can already guess, Mum’s favourite makeup product is a lipstick. She has a fair complexion with dark eyes and very dark hair so bright reds and berries look amazing on her.

Some of you may remember the feature about the products that I’ve chosen for my Mum, and here are the products that she picked up herself.
The other day my Mum called me to tell that she had some important work events and she needed some makeup products (she doesn’t use makeup on a daily basis). I told her that she could pick anything she wanted from my “collection”.
The thing is that I wasn’t home when she was at my place, and she had to choose everything herself. It was very overwhelming for her so she called me about three or four times, but here are the products that she got.

My Mum doesn’t wear makeup. Only lipstick sometimes. But recently she decided to change her hair style, got some new clothes and asked me if I could select some makeup for her.
Wow! I definitely approve 😉
She has light skin, dark hair and eyes, so here are the basics that I have chosen. She doesn’t need that many products simply because she won’t even use them – so, knowing her taste and requirements, here is what I’ve chosen:
I am not yet 100% sure about the foundation that will suit her the best. So far she liked this Bourjois one (shown on the photo). But if you have suggestions for a lady around 50 with dry skin, feel free to share. And thanks to everyone on Twitter for their recommendations!
Blush is a must have in a makeup bag of any girl, in my opinion, as it instantly changes the appearance. This Max Factor blush is one of my personal favourites and I know that it will look great on her, too. Will have to pick up another one soon, as I am giving away my personal one.
I wanted to try Butter London for a long time already. This is what is written about the product:
“Butter London brings us non-toxic nail treatments and lacquers in an array of delicious shades. The hero product is the 3 Free line, which waves goodbye to typical (but nasty) ingredients such as formaldehyde, toluene and DBP. We love their on-trend shades and entertaining names!”
I read some reviews including these at London Makeup Girl. So now I was sure that I want to try it. But what shade? It was very hard to decide because they all looked amazing to me plus the names are great. At first I wanted to get Artful Dodger but I just decided to wait for Chanel’s Nouvelle Vague .
So Yummy Mummy looked liked a perfect shade to me. I’ve spotted some other shades that were calling my name but I when I try something for the first time I get only one product.
What were my thoughts now when I got it? First of all it’s the best nail polish design that I ever saw. I also love the name “butter London”. And in my opinion these are also important factors because now you can choose from so many brands that you should like as many factors about the product as possible.
What about the nail polish itself? I really liked the brush which is kind of small and thin. For some of you this is not the best thing to hear. But I love brushes like this because it helps you to apply the product neat and tidy. Often I do my manicure myself so this is very important for me. You get an opaque cover after you use it only once and it is one of the most important factors. But if you want to get the more intense colour – go for 2 layers.
How long it stays on nails? In my case the products started to chip on 3rd day (without top coat) but it still looked ok. But on the 4th day I had to remove it. Also I have to mention that butter London doesn’t stink like some polishes.
In general I am
