Makeup Trend: Eye Gloss

I have always been a fan of glossy eye lids, and it is kinda cool to see that  it is a big trend now.  Here is a look I have created with the Rouge Bunny Rouge eye gloss back in 2012.  If you haven’t tried the glossy eye lid look, definitely do, it is so effortless, fun and sexy. Sounds like such a cliche thing which is said about every “trend”, but in this case it really is all of that.

You can always get the RBR or MAC eye glosses. Or try the new options. And now it is very easy to get the one you like, considering that even such brands as Bobbi Brown and YSL now have them.

Bobbi Brown just launched three  shades (£19.50 from Harvey Nichols and $28 from Barneys), and they will be a huge hit, for sure. You can choose from Beach Nude, Island Pink and Nude.  YSL offer just a clear option Yves Saint Laurent Eye Gloss Smudger ($30 from Nordstrom).

But if you want a colourful eye gloss, and from a more niche brand, I’ve got you covered, too. Here are three options for your consideration.

Pantone Colour of 2018: Ultraviolet

When you have been around for a while (it will be 9 years next month), you can remember posting about the Pantone Colour of the Year a few times: Greenery, Marsala, Radiant Orchid, Emerald and Tangerine Tango.

So it is time to take a look at the colour of 2018 which is Ultraviolet.

Here is how it is officially described: “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future“.

And, as usual, butter LONDON did a great job capturing the colour in form of makeup, so if you want to introduce it to your [beauty] routine, check out the brand on Amazonand Amazon UK.

As for the

Pantone Colour of 2019: Living Coral

I will try not to start all the upcoming features with how it is hard to believe that it is almost 2019… But, seriously, where did 2018 go? It seems like only yesterday I was writing about the colour of the 2018, according to Pantone. It was Ultraviolet.

But they’ve announced the shade of 2019.  And it is 16-1546 Living Coral, described as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. Vibrant, yet mellow  [Living Coral] embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”

I have a degree in culture studies so it is always interesting for me to read how Pantone interpret the social and cultural changes, and how that is reflected in a colour.  So here is the official statement:

Dark Lips. Get The Look: Chanel Autumn 2020 and Alternative Products

Long time readers will know that I am a huge fan of a dark lip, so I am obviously loving the beauty look from the latest Chanel show. Lucia Pica kept the face and eye makeup minimal to make it look fresh and modern.

On the lips she used the new products which will be a part of the Autumn collection (out in July), and, no doubt, will be a big hit: ROUGE ALLURE VELVET EXTRÊME in N°130 Rouge Obscur  and ROUGE COCO GLOSS in N°816 Laque Noire.

Other products used for the look were:

butter LONDON No More Waity, Katie Nail Polish

You are gonna love this if you follow the story of Kate Middleton and Prince William. As you can guess this nail polish is dedicated to their wedding.

But even if you don’t, you will probably want to get a bottle of this pretty glittery nail polish which may be as popular as All Hail McQueen was.

You can pre-order this nail polish at zuneta (image of their courtesy) at the first week of March. I really wonder why butter LONDON have chosen such shade, instead of blue inspired by Kate’s ring.
