I really love reading (or watching) about people’s top favourite beauty products, as this is a great way to discover new gems. I have posted 15 favourite makeup products of 2015 so now it is time to post about my most loved makeup products in 2016.
Unfortunately, four products (Dior lipstick , Illamasqua nail varnish, Clarins bronzer and eye shadows) that I absolutely adored and used non-stop this year are no longer available so I will have to mention only those items that you can still get.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Serene Light Skin Perfector
This was pretty much the only base product I have been using ever since I received it several months ago. I still haven’t written a proper feature as I really wanted to give it a good test before that. The product definitely stands up to the “Skin Perfector” name, as it makes the complexion glow without looking too shiny or oily. I also rarely use anything on top since it is a bit tinted. Not that I have a perfect skin but this is enough for me, I only use concealer where needed.
Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer (review and swatches)
This product does not need an introduction. I’ve completely used it up, hence I had to use a different Clarins product for the reference purpose. It is like a dry skin’s best friend, this tinted moisturizer never makes your skin look flaky and never accentuates the dry patches. Instead, the skin looks somehow “healthy” and radiant. Love!
Rouge Bunny Rouge Glide Concealer NAKED DISGUISE (review and swatches)
Regular readers will probably know that I barely ever use concealer because I don’t really mind a bit of dark-ish circles, as horrible as it sounds. But I personally hate the perfectly concealed under-eye area on myself. I also almost never get spots, so no need for the concealer in any other places. However, I do really like this product, as it makes the under eye area look better but without making you look like a mannequin.
Inglot Sculpting HD Powder in 504 (review)
As you can see from the photo above, this product is very well loved. Perfect shade for light cool-toned complexions, and the formula is incredibly soft and easy to blend, too.
Daniel Sandler Rose Glow and Golden Glow Watercolour Blushes (review and swatches).
I have spoken about my love for the Daniel Sandler blushers numerous times but, I think, this year he really killed it. The two newest shades are to die for, and although I haven’t been wearing blush that much in 2016, I’ve been reaching for these most of the times I have. Watercolours give you the “blushing from within” kind of effect, a must try. If you are a bit scared of the liquid, which you shouldn’t be, Daniel also has cream blushes now.
I was supposed to publish a review of the affordable balm like lipsticks which are huge now and I have the text ready but my camera batteries died, so it will have to wait.
This is why today I will tell you about something that I am really excited about – blue lip gloss!
To tell the truth, not that many beauty products excite me these days so I am always happy to find something that really does!
Yes, I know that they are not going to look blue on the lips, just like this Dior Trianon Silver gloss is not grey but I just love the idea in general. To tell the truth, I would get them even today if I could! Especially the Paul & Joe one, so gorgeous!
All the glosses are from the summer 2011 makeup collections:
- YSL Gloss from the summer 2011 collection in Frosted Effect.
- L’Oreal Glam Shine Fresh in Aqua Curacao
- Paul & Joe L’Horizon Bleu
Do you like it? Would you get any of these? I am definitely getting the Paul & Joe one!
I would like to thank BBB for letting me use her images.
I already wrote some reviews about L’Oreal Professionel hair care products and today I would like to write a review about one more product by L’Oreal. It is L’Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Volume Expand Root Lift Spray(£11), 125ml
What is written about it:
“Get big, voluptuous hair from root to tip with L’Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Volume Expand Root Lift Spray. It gives fine hair added body and bounce and long-lasting hold and enhanced volume.
L’Oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Volume Expand Root Lift is formulated with mineral calcium to give your fine hair added body and bounce for enhanced volume. Working from root to tip to ensure your hair is left soft, supple and with enough body to give you added confidence.
Directions of use: Spray onto the root area, section by section, on shampooed, towel-dried hair. Comb through to spread the product evenly.”
I absolutely love this spray and was using it several times a week since the day I bought it. Here are the reasons why I think that it is great:
I am actually surprised that I have so many favourites this month, as beauty wasn’t exactly my priority in January. But I truly loved all the products I am going to mention.
Surprisingly, it was all about the brown tones for me this month. I always wear red or berry, but felt like a wanted a change and be rebellious with the nudes. This probably doesn’t even make sense to some of you, I know.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Sheer Lipstick- Succulence Of Dew in Perfume Of His Gaze – it is described as “sheer tanned nude-beige”, and I totally agree. Never thought that I’d be wearing something like this. But never say never. Plus, it’s only makeup, it is supposed to be fun.
I am sure that you are already bored to death with me talking about this Trish McEvoy’s bronzer, but this is literally the only product I have been using on my cheeks lately (this and NYX Taupe). And Hourglass No. 2 Foundation/Blush brush is my favourite tool for bronzer/blush/healthy glow & colour on my cheeks.
Finally, there is a mascara that I have been using so much that all the words on it on it completely rubbed off – Max Factor Mastepiece Transform High Impact Volumising Mascara. It gives amazing volume, ultra-black colour and instant wow-effect.
I have been travelling quite a lot lately just for the weekends And, although you still want to get everything you may need, taking full-sized products is not the best option.
This is why I’ve kept a lot of mini-sized bottles and sample sized tubes/pots to re-use them. Here is an overview of what I like taking with me for a weekend-away.
1. Micellar Water (in Yves Rocher vanilla bottle) – this is Garnier’s one to remove my makeup. It is gentle and effective.
2. A good cleanser, Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm – my favourite one at the moment (in a small pot).
3. Day cream is REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream which is in a small pot, next to the cleanser. I’ve bought it some time ago, and should definitely review it soon.
4. Eye cream is Lumene SENSITIVE Comforting Eye Cream. It is not bad but not enough for my very dry skin.
5. Of course, I had to take the mini size of my Holy Grail oil from REN. I have re-purchased it three times, and if I could have only one skincare product -this would be it.
6. The night cream is also from REN, and it
