Cologne For a Young Man?

For the last several weeks I’ve been on a mission to choose a cologne for my baby brother’s Birthday.
Last year I’ve got him La Nuit de l`Homme by Yves Saint Laurent.

And this year I’ve chosen Givenchy Play and lots of my girlfriends loved it a lot, too. So take a note, guys!  But I’ve decided to ask my brother to go and choose one himself. I know that it kind of ruins the surprise but since it’s not a surprise, as he asked for a cologne himself, that was ok!

So my brother asked for Paco Rabanne Black XS.  It’s interesting because I used to HATE any kind of perfumes and the first bottle of perfumes that I’ve got were Black XS for her…

Although I still think that  Givenchy Play is amazing, Black XS is also nice. I just don’t see this as a scent for men, it smells too sweet if you ask me. But this may be a good choice for a young man aged 20-25, just like my brother.

For Your Information: Black XS was created in 2005 by Olivier Cresp. It features fresh lemon notes, Kalamanzi fruit, tagetes, sage, praline, cardamom, cinnamon, Tou balsam, rosewood, black amber, patchouli and ebony.

By the way, it’s his Birthday today. So…

Happy Birthday Babe, I love you!

Recenly I’ve got some information about the new fragrance laucnhes. I have tweeted about some of them already but thought it would be nice to make a post, too.

So here we go…

L’eau de Chloé

This is an interpretation of the Chloé Rose created in 2008 by Michel Almairac. Here is what is written about the new version:

‘ L’eau de Chloé contains an exceptional concentration of distilled rose water, which lends it a rare refreshing feeling. Light as dew, this chypre rose seems suffused with pure oxygen. A delicate citrus harmony recalls summer’s luscious ice-cool lemonades. At once spirited and elegant, airy and ethereal, the rose leaves a subtle presence on the skin. Little by little, patchouli appears in sophisticated touches, evoking the luxury and perfection of wearing a flawlessly finished garment.’

L’eau de Chloé eau de toilette 30ml – £46.00/€57.50,  50ml – £46.00/€57.50, 100ml – £61.00/€76.30, L’eau de Chloé body lotion 200ml – £26.00/€32.50, L’eau de Chloé shower gel 200ml – £23.00/€28.80.

Available Nationwide from 7th March 2012.

New Brand from Jo Malone. Jo Loves

I’ve written about Jo Malone’s new brand Jo Loves some time ago and I am happy to let you know that all four fragrances from Jo Loves are already available for the purchase.

I really love that Jo has chosen red and black as her signature colour, there is nothing better than a combo of read and black! There are four fragrances so far, each is 100ml and  retails for £95.

Since I haven’t tried any of them  - here is how Jo describes them.

Pomelo

“Pomelo is clean and crisp; it’s my best friend made up of memories and moments. It’s that feeling of fresh linen sheets or a glass of bubbling fizzy water with a slice of lime and lots of crushed ice. I spray Pomelo onto my skin a couple of times when I go into the office, when I’m out and about and again before lunch or cocktails. Like me, Pomelo has a masculine side to it, it’s confident and sharp.”

 Green Orange & Coriander

“Green Orange & Coriander is soulful and sassy. It has a wonderfully clean smell to it and the marriage between green citrus and herb sits beautifully together and becomes very sexy. This fragrance reminds me of Sunday brunch in New York; sitting in a hotel wearing a big roll neck cashmere sweater drinking a glass of wine in front of a log fire. It’s incredibly comforting yet at the same time it evokes a real sense of passion and warmth.”

Orange Tulle

Bottega Veneta, The Scent. Video and Information

The new film created by Tomas Maier about  Bottega Veneta Scent by Christian Weber caught my attention. It basically tells us about the story of the fragrance.

This is how the scent is described:

“Evoking the suppleness and sensuality of the house’s renowned leather goods, the fragrance, a leathery floral chypre, marries the olfactory language of the Venetian countryside —fresh meadows, mown hay, flowers, earth, and wood— with the gentle richness of leather in a creation crafted with the meticulousness of a master artisan.

The backbone of the fragrance is chypre with a combination of bergamot, patchouli and oak moss. Sensual floral and spicy components gesture toward the East, a recollection of Venice’s place at the end of the Silk Road.

Natural ingredients trace a global path: there is bergamot from Italy, Jasmine Sambac picked in India, and patchouli from Indonesia. Composed by renowned master perfumer Michel Almairac, the Bottega Veneta fragrance reveals its
