I was recently given a Rich Lip Color (£18/€25) by Bobbi Brown.
The colour I have is called Uber Suede which it is described as a golden beige and I would say that it is a warm brown. I definitely would not pick such colour for myself as I do not wear brown as I don’t find it that flattering on my skin tone ( it will, obviously, look different on dark skin tones).
I actually remember that my Mum had such lip colour in the early 90’s and it was a bit hit back then…
But it is great to have such shade, as you never know what you may need, especially if you do makeup on other people from time to time or are a full time MUA.
When it comes to lipstick’s formula – I like it a lot. It is
It is probably too early to write about berry lip products but, for some reason, I have been talking (with my girlfriends) about such shades quite a lot recently.
This is why I’ve decided to pick some of my favourites from those that I have with different finishes and price point, so there is something for everyone.
So here we go…
Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 738 Royal Plum
I have written about this lipstick only recently. It is a part of the upcoming Clarins’ Fall collection. It is a gorgeous plum shade with a satin finish. Not very intense but not sheer at all, just spot on!
butter LONDON Lippy in La Moss
I absolutely love the name and the vampy shade of this gloss, so sexy! Just keep in mind that the application can be a bit tricky, it takes time to get an even coverage. But it’s so worth it! Dark vinyl lips, perfect for those who are not afraid to go for it.
ArtDeco Lip Laquer 40 Rosy Tribute
This is a lighter in shade and
I’ve realized that I never did a full review and lip swatches of my most unusual lipstick which, in terms of colour, which is Illamasqua Kontrol.
I love experimenting with eye makeup and would wear pretty much everything out. But when it comes to lips, some shades I just can’t wear outside my own place.
This is how Kontorl looks like: it is a purple with a blue base.
This lipstick is very opaque and creamy, it gives a beautiful even colour and doesn’t look chalky! Plus I don’t find it drying at all. One more amazing thing about it, is that
It is my Birthday this Sunday so I though I’d get myself something nice. By something nice I usually mean luxury makeup.
I also wanted to try Shellac (better late than never right?) so I did get a manicure. A red one! I will write a post about it in 2 weeks. Now the only thing that is left – get my hair done but I can’t think of what I want. I don’t want any huge changes…
But back to the makeup. I wanted to get some Chanel and Guerlain but guess what? ALL products that I’ve wanted to get were out of stock!!! Unbelievable.
Most of all I wanted to get 2 shades from the Guerlain Spring range but the 2 shades that I wanted were sold out!
The shades are swatched in this order:
- 45 Orange Euphorique
- 24 Rouge
Although I personally love berry and plum shades all year round, they look especially nice in Autumn/Winter. Recently my friend asked me what lipstick I was wearing as she really loved it, and was surprised to hear that it was Maybelline. This made me think that I should write about affordable berry lipsticks that I would recommend. So here are three different options…
Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in 06 Plum Russian (review and lip swatches)
It is a gorgeous glossy plum which feels comfortable on the lips, and is super easy to apply as it comes in a crayon form. You can get a sheer colour pay-off or layer it for an intense effect. It can also be worn on top of other lipsticks if you want to create an extra sheen/gloss. The other day my Mum saw this lipstick, and loved so it much, that now I have to get a new one for myself (as she “borrowed” mine) .
Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 107 (review and lip swatc hes)
