Create the Looks of the Mad Men Girls Christina Hendricks and January Jones from the 68th Golden Globe Awards

After browsing the photos of Golden Globes for about 2 hours like I had nothing else to do some time I can’t say that I’ve managed to pick my favourites but I’ve picked some of those that I liked.

Lucky for us I’ve got some how-tos in my inbox plus some brands shared the details on the official pages. So of course I have to tell you how to create the looks of our (of mine at least) favourite Mad Men girls: January Jones and Christina Hendricks. And we will also take a look at Elizabeth Moss(Peggy).

January Jones

Make-up Artist Rachel Goodwin

Beauty Inspiration:

“January’s look was all about strength – there was nothing demure about it! I wanted to go for a super strong brow, and a high gloss red lip. 90’s supermodel meets old Hollywood glamour!”

How To Create the Look:

“The makeup was simple with two strong elements. I prepped her skin with CHANEL Sublimage Concentrate.

I then sculpted her cheeks with CHANEL Bronzing Makeup Base.

On her lids, I used a wash of champagne coloured shadow, CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Liberty.

I created a strong, bold defined brow with the CHANEL Perfect Brows palette, and applied two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.

Finally, I knew I wanted to go for a glossy red lip as opposed to a matte red, to keep the look fresh and not too retro.

I used an amazing red gloss, CHANEL Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Excess, to complete January’s strong red carpet look.”

Christina Handricks

I don’t like the top of the dress at least not with such hair style

Make-up Artist Vanessa Scali

Beauty Inspiration:

“I had this vision of a big, doe-eyed, lashy look from the late 70s and early 80s. To keep it modern, I kept the skin dewy with shimmering eyes and added a pop of matte texture on the lips.”

  • PRO-PRIME Multi Protect Primer With SPF ( Available February 1st exclusively at Sephora; for now, try NARS Makeup Primer With SPF)
  • Sheer Glow Foundation
  • Copacabana Illuminator ( Available February 15th for now, try Copacabana Multiple)
  • Desire Blush

  • Calanque Trio Eyeshadow
  • Hollywoodland Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
  • Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo
  • Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara

  • Vesuvio Pure Matte Lipstick

Both girls were wearing red dresses. Christina’s dress is by by Romona Keveza and January’s – by Versace.

As we are talking about the Mad Men. Take a look at Peggy – Elizabeth Moss who is wearing the emerald Donna Karan dress. Don’t get me wrong, she looks nice but “too Peggy” maybe she should have gone  for a more dramatic and defined look.

And what about you? Which makeup and dress did you like?

They look so lovely! I really love Christina’s look the most, however. Her color is similar to mine and I love that she used Desire as the blush, I just bought it and love it. I agree about the top of the dress with that particular hair style, however; why they wouldn’t do a great updo I don’t understand. Thanks for all of the info!

Love January! She is so pretty! Thanks for sharing these makeup info!

I wasn’t impressed with either of them. I love Christina’s dress but I, too, think the hair was too much for it. It definitely should have been pulled back to make her face and the dress the focal points. I know I’m in the minority but I’m not a big fan of either of them. I’ll be honest, I’ve never watched the show but I’ve seen a lot of press about both of them and I think they are just average.
