I can’t believe that this year the cult meteorites by Guerlian celebrate 30! This magical powder, the glow-giver for three decades already, was created by Dominique Szabo, Guerlain’s Creative Director of the time, back in 1987.
And I remember that every beauty lover had to have them, a lot of people actually collected all releases and would do anything to get yet another special edition compact. I do have a few myself (see here and here).
So which products are a part of the latest collection?
First of all, there are two KissKiss lipsticks in a limited edition packaging: Blossom Glow, a lively pink, and a more tender and glossy Pearly Pink.
A cute pink Meteorites The Brush which, according to the brand, is a redesigned brush with an improved, extremely practical design and works great for the signature iconic G application technique.
And what about the meteorites themselves that come in a compact and pressed variation?
I am so lucky to get the opportunity to interview the most amazing and talented Make-Up Artists in the industry, and today I am excited to share Tamsin Barbosa‘s. She actually worked on some of my personal favourite films, such as Sleep Hollow, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children ( she was Eva Green’s hair stylist) and Alice in Wonderland. Tamsin also just finished working on Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, and she is currently working on the new Mary Poppins film with Emily Blunt. See more films she worked on here.
Overall, Tamsin has over 26 years’ of experience in the industry, and worked with such celebrities as Colin Firth, Dame Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Eva Green, Sir Michael Caine & Daniel Craig.
1. Please tell us about yourself, and your story of becoming a make-up artist.
After graduating from Greasepaint School of Make-up in 1990, I began my career in the wig departments of London’s West End. I then spent several years in TV, working on a range of programmes including Eastenders and The Impression Show. I then moved into film and have spent the last 20 years working on on many high profile film productions including the new Mary Poppins Returns, Star Wars – Episode VIII, Alice through the Looking Glass and Pirates of the Caribbean.
2. What were the biggest difficulties about getting in the industry? And what about your proudest moments? What is the beauty industry like in reality?
I was very lucky to meet the make-up designer, Peter Swords King very early in my career in film, and have worked with him on many films since. Proudest moments – being asked to be a personal make-up artist by a well known A list actor. Don’t
I have to say that I am a bit of a shower gel snob, and that doesn’t mean that I don’t like a good ol’ Nivea or similar brands, it is just sometimes you get so busy that shower can be the only “me/relaxation” time. This is why it really matters what products I am using.
For me the most important factor is the scent, I love me a good aroma-therapy session. I also want it to be non-drying but I have to use a cream/butter after any shower product. Yes, any.
Kiehl’s Original Musk caught my attention because of the name, obviously, I like musky/warm scents, especially in winter. And it being Kiehl’s I’ve also expected high quality.
Moreover, I like the
There are a lot of new blushers out for Spring 2017, and I even posted a preview of some of the coolest palettes. But here is a preview of the creme de la creme of the blush launches, the most luxurious and high-end ones.
“An illuminating face powder that creates a soft glow with a hint of colour. It combines subtle rosy colour and illuminating pearls, the soft-as-silk powder creates a glowing, flushed effect on your cheeks.” the pattern of the blush is inspired by the antique wallpaper sourced from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
“A luxuriously moisturizing cream blush with Argan Oil that
It’s like only yesterday I was writing about my favourite makeup products of 2016, and today I am already sharing about the favourites of the first month of 2017. Where did time go?
And it feels like I am talking about the same things over, and over again but I do love those products. However, I did discover some new gems this month.
This is definitely my favourite oil of the moment, it works even for my extremely dry skin type, saves it from being flaky and itchy, and smells amazing. Finally, a product I love as much, as my other REN Holy Grail.
J. R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream (from Amazon)
My fried got this one in America, and she told me how this is a very rich and nourishing cream, and it is. While some people find such textures to be too much for their taste, I am a big fan, the cream leaves the skin ridiculously soft and smooth. And smells of honey and coconuts.
Carmex Moisture Lip Balm (from Amazon)
Another present, this time from my lovely Farrah. This product does not need an introduction, it is a cult favourite for a reason. I personally love the
