Summer 2019 Beauty and Lifestyle Favourites

I used to do monthly favourites but since very often I would repeat a lot of  the products, it made sense to do one for each season (here is  Spring). While it is mostly about beauty, I do include a few lifestyle items, as well.

Beauty

In the summer I have been loving my rose fragrances, as always.  My biggest obsession was Goutal Eau de Parfum Rose Pompon (as seen on my Insta) from Harrods and Bergdorf. It has the notes of Bulgarian rose essence, taïf rose, peony, blackcurrent, rasberry, pink pepper, woody cedar, patchouli and white musk. And it is just my dream scent, I never want to be without it, ever.

I personally think that very few people can actually write about perfume beautifully, and I am certainly not one of them. So for now I will just insert the brand’s description of the two perfumes I’ve been loving lately. However, I will try my best  in the future.

“As you stroll down Rue des Rosiers in Paris, you can feel the vibrant, sparkling atmosphere along the cobblestone street, punctuated with the laughter from café terraces and snippets of shopkeepers’ conversations. In the spring, the climbing rose bushes flower in clusters. The wind stirs their pompom blossoms and swirls their refreshing scent with the sweet, tangy smell of pastries.” See… What is not to love?

Le Labo Rose 31 whih was my Wedding perfume

“The disturbing ambiguity of the Centifolia rose, quickly picked up by a chorus of warm, spicy and woodsy notes such as cumin, olbanum, cedar and a touch of amber…In the background, the declared sensuality of Gaïac wood and cistus highlighted by a distinctly physical animal note, give this perfume a disconcerting sense of mystery”.

R+Co Dallas Thickening Shampoo (review here)

I raved about this shampoo only recently so feel free to read all about it by clicking the link above. Unfortunately (or luckily, I suppose), it has now been replaced by a biotin version which, hopefully, is only  better.

Favourite Makeup Products of 2018

As promised, here is a feature about my favourite makeup  of 2018. It was supposed to be makeup and beauty but I am already almost on 1200 words so had to divide the feature into 2 parts. I’ve chosen the products that I love and used the most hence some of them may look a bit grubby but it does show that they are true favourites.

And by the way, you can also check out my favourite products of 2017,  2016 and 2015

Base

Rouge Bunny Rouge SERENE LIGHT Skin Perfector  (here). This is a slightly tinted primer which leaves your skin glowing and luminous. For my very dry skin it is perfect. It is a primer so barely gives any coverage but is great for adding radiance and creating that “healthy” polished look. I have used it on my wedding day, and used it up completely. Absolutely incredible! Gets big thumbs up from me.

Chanel Les Beiges All-in-One Healthy Glow Fluid SPF15 ( £34 from Harrods and from Nordstrom).

The “foundation” I loved the most this year. A very light and moisturising one, feels light on the skin, and gives a light (to medium) coverage. According to Chanel, it contains  a hyaluronic acid derivative and  a complex of cotton flower and white rose plant cells.  It has a relatively strong scent but I personally like it. Another thing I love about it is a chic and minimalistic tube. And SPF 15, of course.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Lift In a Tube. Dual Ended  Full Coverage Anti-Aging Concealer and  Brightener (in Light). I am not sure if the name of this product could be even longer. (From Selfridges and Sephora)

Long time readers will know how  I like only very light textures under my eyes hence I am such a fan of Touche Eclat (I’ve used many many tubes) and this Rouge Bunny Rouge gem. The same goes with this product, I did not use the concealer side at all. However, the Illuminator is incredible, I have almost used it up. It does not enhance the fine lines,  while reflecting the light which brightens the under eye area. Just don’t expect it to cover the dark circles completely, it is not the task of this product. I wonder if this Illuminator is available individually. It seems like there is one with the same name ( It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Light).

4 theBalm Balm Desert (review).

I feel like the next two products do not need an introduction, as I’ve been  talking about them non stop.  I am determined to use this bronzer/blush until I am completely  done with it. It sculpts and gives colour at the same time.  You get definition and a healthy glow with Balm Desert. I also love the finish, it is not matte but not shimmery.  Everything about it is great, including the cute cardboard packaging.

5 Daniel Sandler Watercolour in Golden Glow (review).

It’s like a healthy post-holiday glow in a bottle.  A shimmery bronze which

Favourites Beauty Products of 2017

It is better late than never, right? So here is finally a feature on my favourite beauty products of 2017.

Here is actually a look back on my 2015 favourites and 2016 Makeup Favourites. I am still obsessed with those products, by the way. And a link to my 2017 monthly beauty favourites. While in 2015 and 2016 I wrote about makeup only, this time it will be about beauty in general. I have chosen 17 products.  Some of the products I loved the most were LE (  Clarins shadows, bronzers for e.g) so here are only those that are still available.

Makeup

  1. Rouge Bunny Rouge SERENE LIGHT Skin Perfector

This is probably the product of 2017, and it was also in my 2016 favourites. I have been promising to write a detailed feature about it for  a while now, and I will definitely do it in the near future. Basically this base gives you the most incredible glow, you get that polished and well-rested effect, dry skin’s best friend. It does not give that much coverage, as it is a primer, but I wear it without any foundation on top.  Stay tuned for the photos.

2. theBalm  Balm Desert  (buy from  ASOSFeel Unique and Sephora.)

I’ve hit the pan on this product, and will use it all up. I love how it is called  bronzer/blush, and it is exactly that, it has a nice balance of warmth and reddish undertones. Perfect for adding colour and definition to your face. I love the texture, the formula an the pigmentation. The staying power is also impressive. See the swatch in the middle.

3. Clarins Graphik Ink Liner (from Selfridges,HarrodsEscentual.com,  Nordstorm,  Sephora, Bergdorf Goodman)

I am very picky  when it come to eye liners, it has to be a very specific tip and formula for me to like it. And this Clarins one is absolutely incredible. The best purchase. The tip is
