During the last several weeks I had a lot of stress, did not sleep that well, plus I have to take some medicine for three months, among other things. Why am I even telling that? So that you can release that my skin doesn’t look fantastic, unfortunately.
That’s when lill’ things like Clarins’ Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base are like life complexion savers.
I actually have a lot of different bases but most of the times, I just skip this step altogether. But not now!
This is a lightweight base that doesn’t feel greasy or oily on the skin, plus I’d say that is makes the skin softer (yes, I did touch it) and smoother. I don’t have particularly large pores or major imperfections, but I would say that it definitely improves (visually) the look of the skin.
With my tired, glow-lacking, post-winter complexion I can really appreciate the illuminating and brightening effect it creates. If my skin looked as it usually does, I would just use concealer where needed, as I love the results a lot. But right now I just use a light foundation on top, as I have to. I love this one from Daniel Sandler and this one from BECCA.
And, yes, I use it all over the face, as a primer. I have dry skin, and it doesn’t look shimmery or shiny on me, at all. You could also use it only as a highlighter, but I personally find it too subtle for my taste.
Also, being Clarins, this is like a hybrid of makeup and skincare, so what it not to like?

I was actually asked how is it compared to the cult Beauty Flash Balm? This one definitely gives more luminosity but doesn’t have that tightening and “lifting” effect that the first one has.
Clarins’ Flash Balm is the only primer I have re-purchased, and I feel like this one will be the second. I have already used almost half of it, and that says a lot.
The price is £26/$37 for 30 ml available from Escentual.com, Nordstorm, Sephora, Boots, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, Harrods…
