I really love reading (or watching) about people’s top favourite beauty products, as this is a great way to discover new gems. I have posted 15 favourite makeup products of 2015 so now it is time to post about my most loved makeup products in 2016.
Unfortunately, four products (Dior lipstick , Illamasqua nail varnish, Clarins bronzer and eye shadows) that I absolutely adored and used non-stop this year are no longer available so I will have to mention only those items that you can still get.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Serene Light Skin Perfector
This was pretty much the only base product I have been using ever since I received it several months ago. I still haven’t written a proper feature as I really wanted to give it a good test before that. The product definitely stands up to the “Skin Perfector” name, as it makes the complexion glow without looking too shiny or oily. I also rarely use anything on top since it is a bit tinted. Not that I have a perfect skin but this is enough for me, I only use concealer where needed.
Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer (review and swatches)
This product does not need an introduction. I’ve completely used it up, hence I had to use a different Clarins product for the reference purpose. It is like a dry skin’s best friend, this tinted moisturizer never makes your skin look flaky and never accentuates the dry patches. Instead, the skin looks somehow “healthy” and radiant. Love!
Rouge Bunny Rouge Glide Concealer NAKED DISGUISE (review and swatches)
Regular readers will probably know that I barely ever use concealer because I don’t really mind a bit of dark-ish circles, as horrible as it sounds. But I personally hate the perfectly concealed under-eye area on myself. I also almost never get spots, so no need for the concealer in any other places. However, I do really like this product, as it makes the under eye area look better but without making you look like a mannequin.
Inglot Sculpting HD Powder in 504 (review)
As you can see from the photo above, this product is very well loved. Perfect shade for light cool-toned complexions, and the formula is incredibly soft and easy to blend, too.
Daniel Sandler Rose Glow and Golden Glow Watercolour Blushes (review and swatches).
I have spoken about my love for the Daniel Sandler blushers numerous times but, I think, this year he really killed it. The two newest shades are to die for, and although I haven’t been wearing blush that much in 2016, I’ve been reaching for these most of the times I have. Watercolours give you the “blushing from within” kind of effect, a must try. If you are a bit scared of the liquid, which you shouldn’t be, Daniel also has cream blushes now.
Here are the four new products I have bought recently…
I have used up yet another Optimum Skin Serum Oil which is my Holy Grail product by REN and decided to get a different one this time. And so far I really enjoy using it. Speaking of REN, I’ve used up quite a few products from them recently, so maybe I should write some kind of a round-up?
AHAVA Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream with Mandarin and Cedarwood. AHAVA is available from Nordstrom
I am a hand cream fanatic, and there are actually six (including these and these) on my desk right now. I imagine the number would be higher if I could fit all of them, ahem. But I did want a small one for my handbag. I usually get L’Occitane but decided to try something else this time. AHAVA is a brilliant brand, so I am looking forward to carrying this cream with me, especially now that it is Winter.
I have a thing for Soap & Glory products, they
It’s time for June’s favourites, and somehow this time it is all about Clarins. I have bought quite a few products from the brand and have been sent some samples, and most products were incredible. After all it is one of my favourite brands for a reason. There are also two beauty tools, self tanning drops and bath salts.
Here we go.
Let’s start with makeup, as there are only two products that really stood out to me. Technically three, but two are the same product just different shades. Clarins Blush & Bronzing Compact (review and swatches) my love for this bronzer is still going strong. Now that I have a tan it looks amazing on, warms up the complexion and adds some definition.
As for the Clarins Waterproof Eyeshadow Shimmering Cream Colour (review and swatches) they are phenomenal, as I’ve already said. Extremely long-lasting and incredibly beautiful on the eyes. Just make sure you don’t apply too much, as they can look a bit dry. I’ve been wearing 03 Silver Taupe at the end of May and beginning of June when I still had a very pale complexion but now 04 Copper Brown is my favourite. It looks perfect now, am I a bronze goddess already?
I have to say that I am still loving all of my favourites from April but here are some more products that I would like to add. Four makeup items and three beauty.
I did not expect this first product to make it to my favourites, as I have been neglecting all my bronzers for some time now, and I have tonnes. But I really like this new Clarins bronzer from their summer collection. It is called Bronzing & Blush Compact (full review coming up soon), as it adds warmth and that subtle sun-kissed effect to the face; you can use each shade separately or mix them all together. The other day when I was wearing it one of my best male friends told me that whatever I have on my cheeks – it looks amazing, and makes me look beautiful, and it was this bronzer. Yes, some of my poor male friends know things like that.
Speaking of glow, I have started
piling on using my Mary Lou Manizer from theBalm again. It gives the most gorgeous sheen to the face, and makes me look decent even when I barely sleep due to all the deadlines. Get it! Seriously, if you love a good highlighter, you need this in your life.
I have been using Max Factor Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara all
Regular readers will know my obsession with hand creams, here is actually a post about my top 5 from last year, and I should probably write an updated version at some point.

I am a huge believer in a hand cream, and I always have one in my handbag, always. It is a necessity in colder months to protect the skin, to moisturise and nourish it. Also, we all know – the way your hands look can give away your age. And I personally can’t stand dried out skin. Applying hand cream is a pure relaxing little luxury, especially when
