Here is the promised review of the Collistar’s Gloss Nail Lacquer Gel Effect. Although there are quite a few shades to choose from – 571 Blu Grintosa instantly caught my attention and I knew that I had to get get.
And I am not disappointed. It is a gorgeous blue colour which looks opaque and glossy with only one coat, and you can see it for yourself on the photo above (without a top coat).
I like the application and the formula, I only wish the
Recently I was thinking about how my beauty habits and preferences changed over years… Looks like one of the best examples for that would be my nails.
I used to love really long and square shaped nails. On the first photo, which is from 2010, where I am wearing OPI’s Baby It’s Coal Outside, they are not that long but you get the idea. The thought of cutting and filing down my nails back then was horrifying.
And now I
For someone who is not exactly into “nude” nail polishes, I have quite a few. I have chosen seven which could fit the nude/taupe/brown-ish category.
So what shades do I have? And which is my favourite?
Dior Vernis in Grege
I love the wide and thin brush which makes the application super easy and fast. It is a beautiful warm shade which suits me when I get some tan. But if you have a light-to-medium warm skin tone – this may be a perfect nude for you. See it applied on the nails.
MeMeMe Long Lasting Gloss in Alluring
This is one of the darkest nail polishes from the selection, and should be a nice nude for people with darker skin. Or if you want a brown nail polish against the light skin. The quality is nice for the price, too. Swatches.
Yves Rocher Nail Polish in Taupe
This is definitely not a nude, but a taupe. Such shade was super popular several years ago and I can totally see why: it goes well with pretty much everything and doesn’t compete with your outfit or accessories. Manicure with it.
MeMeMe Long Lasting Gloss in Ambitious
It looks like that
I have quite a few Maybelline Colorama nail polishes, so I was curious to try the re-launched range. Compared to the old design (and my horrible photos) this new look is so much better, it is chic and looks like it could be a part of a luxury line.
The brush is also easier to use now, it’s not a wide-and-thin one but I can’t complain.
But since I have a lot of red nail polishes already (my favourite has to be Revlon Red, the best red, in my opinion), I gave this one to my aunt along with red lipstick. My uncle better appreciate, ha!
I am a big fan of black nail polishes and I do have several different variants but I wanted even more. That’s when Illamasqua’s Scron, a black with a matte finish caught my attention. So did purchase it recently.
Maybe it makes more sense to get a matte top coat instead of matte nail polish but I think matte top coat gives a more flat finish while the “original” matte nail polish looks much better.
Please excuse all the fingerprints…
It looks opaque with two coats, as you can see from the photo above.
The brand actually offers some shades with rubber finish if you want something different. But I love my nail polish to be glossy so I will stick to a black version. The price is £13.50. Illamasqua is available from Selfridges and ASOS.
