I know that a lot of people were waiting for the review of Clarins Ombre Matte Eye Shadows, but I wanted to take my time, and test them out properly. And, finally, I am ready to share my impression.
This Autumn the brand released 6 shades of what they describe as “new generation cream to powder eye shadows”:01 Nude Beige, 02 Nude Pink, 03 Taupe, 04 Rosewood, 05 Sparkle Grey and 06 Earth.
So what about the formula?
I’d describe it as a very well pressed creamy powder. The finish is matte (at least in the shades that I have), so they look very natural on the eye lids.
It is incredibly easy to use the product, in fact, most of the time I just pat it on and blend with my fingers. The texture is smooth and it spreads evenly and blends out easily.
As for the staying power, I have noticed that it really depends on the application. With a thin layer of primer and several layers of shadows – it has a nice staying power. It is important to almost press the eye shadows (instead of lightly applying with brushes like MAC 217) into the skin, otherwise they may not stay on for as long, as you’d love to.
02 Nude Pink – it is a great basic shade which evens out the skin, and works well with pretty much any other shades. Would be a great choice for an every day work appropriate look, or for a bridal makeup base.
04 Rosewood – my favoutite. It is a prefect contouring shade for girls with cool-toned complexion. It works great for creating a natural shadow. I use it both in my eye and face makeup. Yes, if you blend it out nicely – it can be your best friend when it comes to creating cheek bones. This is why I have swatched it near NYX Taupe blush (my love), so that you can see how they are compared.
