If you want to wear berry or plum lipsticks but are afraid of an opaque colour, you may want to try Guerlain Shine Automatique (£24.50 / €33.55) in 760 Lou-Ling which is a part of the Christmas 2012 makeup collection.
This lipstick actually gets a lot of attention because of the design. When I was at one party my friend’s husband told me that his Mum (70+) used to have the same one (the same design, not shade, obviously) when he was a boy and how he was always curious about how it worked.
Although Lou-Ling is a plummy lipstick and gives a beautiful shade, it is not a full-on colour and is very wearable. It does not demand high maintenance and you can apply this lipstick on the go, without a brush or a lip pencil. Such shade really helps to freshen up the look, especially in the dull November weather.
I also like that this Lou-Ling has a subtle shimmer, nothing over the top.
It feels light and non-drying on the lips and doesn’t look horrible when starts fading away. This lipstick is also pretty long-lasting for such formula.
As I have already said, I would highly recommend it to those who want a berry/plum lipstick but are not yet ready for a big statement.
Here is how the lipstick looks like swatched on the skin and on the lips. Please note that it does look a bit darker in real life.
Lou-Ling now lives in my personal makeup bag and I don’t add that many lipsticks to my personal collection.
What a lovely and wearable shade, love it!
I agree I wear it quite a lot.
