My Interview About Blogging, Magazine and Favourite Makeup

Last month lovely Yulia from BeautyInsider asked me several questions and I thought I’d share some of my answers with you. I don’t really tell a lot about myself or the blog and a lot of you ask so here are some answers for you! Hope you will enjoy ūüôā

You can find the original interview here but it is in Russian (I’ve studied the language at school). I absolutely love reading the¬†answers¬†of other bloggers so thank you, Yulia, for such a great material! By the way, you can also read the interview with BritishBeautyBlogger and some other Russian bloggers. But ¬†you can always use an online translator, right?

This is NOT a word to word translation, just the main idea!

How did you get an idea of writing a¬†beauty¬†blog? Anyone helped you in the beginning? I remember how you’ve started, you’ve changed the design several times and even the name of the blog?

To be honest that wasn’t even my idea. I’ve always been interested in beauty and my friends often asked my advice, they actually told me that I should try writing online. My first post was about Coco Chanel.

Yes, I’ve changed the name because I didn’t like the old one. As for the design – I’ve changed it a lot of times and I¬†believe¬†there will be changes in the future.

As for the help ¬†– I’ve got some help when it came to¬†buying¬†a domain and choosing a¬†platform¬†(I’ve got WordPress), I’ve also got some help with the design.

Did you get the idea of what to write about from the very beginning? Did you change it? Do you have any principles you keep? Why did you start this blog when there are already so many beauty bloggers?

I just wanted to tell about the new collections, makeup, products that I’ve tried, I wanted to share ¬†my impression. I have only one¬†principle¬†– not to mix my personal and professional life with the blog.

To tell the truth, I had no idea that there were so many beauty blogs when I’ve started (and now there are so much more), I’ve never¬†read¬†any before.

How did you get the idea of creating your own magazine? Who helped you? Was it hard working on the first issue?

I’ve always wanted to see a magazine dedicated exclusively to makeup: interviews with Creative¬†Directors, famous Make-up Artists, information about new collections,a ¬†lot of beautiful photos of the new collections, trends in the makeup etc. I’ve often shared my thoughts with my friend and once a friend of mine said : “Why don’t you make your own?” Of course I¬†laughed¬†back than. ¬†It ¬†was not real because it is a lot of work and I don’t have an experience at all. But after that we came back to that conversation several times, and after about 6 months I gave up.

It was hard with the first issue of course: I had to think about the content, get in touch with everyone (it was the hardest thing I guess, because so many people never wrote back), gather the material and photos and to make it all look beautiful!

I got a help with the design. I also told BritishBeautyBlogger about my idea and she agreed to be the first one to take a look at the text and tell me her opinion. She is a journalist and editor with a  great experience  so I was very happy to get her help. Everything else I did myself.

How long does it take you to blog? You update every day Рdid you change your  life in some way to fit the blog in?

I like to write the posts ahead. Of course I can’t write for the whole week ahead but I try my best. “Schedule ” is a great thing I have no idea what would I do without it. Sometimes I can blog half of my day, sometimes it takes only an hour or an hour and a half.

What is this blog for you? Hobby? Business?Something else?

I guess it’s an addition to my hobby (which is the art of makeup). It is also a way to find people who share my interests and to learn so many things!

What advice would you give to a beginner in beauty blogging?

The main thing is to decide what for do you need this blog and what goals do you have. After that you should act according to your goals!

What beauty brands do you like yourself? What do you use every day? Your must-have?

I like so many many products but  here are some of my favourites:

This blog¬†enriched¬†my life in so many ways! I’ve met (online) some amazing people form the industry whom I’d love to meet one day, I’ve learned a lot of new things about makeup and beauty and I have to say that my writing style got better. I am very proud of Makeup4all and I am especially proud of my magazine. I’ve always loved being creative and this blog and magazine is a great help with that. I also love sharing the happiness that I get when I see a new collection (sounds so vain, lol). One of the best things about this blog is that I can write whatever and whenever I want and no one tells me what to do!

Anyway, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my answers and if you have any questions – feel free to ask.

And thank you, Yulia, for some great questions.
