NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania Review and Lip Swatches. Rave

Since we are having a Lipstick Week, it is about time to finally write a full review of my lipstick obsession  – NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania.

I’ve picked it up back in the winter and already featured it a lot of times on my Instagram and in my favourites, too.

Long-time readers will know that I am a huge fan of berry and plum vampy lipsticks and I have quite  few but I’ve picked this one up not only because of the shade but also because of the name, gotta love Transylvania.

But, back to the lipstick…

I really, really love it. As the name suggests, it is a soft matte cream meaning that it does not feel drying or heavy on the lips, unlike most matte lipsticks. In fact, you can get a rather sheer stain-like effect by patting in one layer with your finger.  Apply more layers for a dark and opaque effect.

I know that some shades from this line can be tricky to apply but I find that with several layers and a precise application you get a beautiful intense and really dark effect with Transylvania.

I find that it lasts pretty well but will not survive any snacks or drinks because of the souffle-like formula (which sets to a matte finish).

It is also worth mentioning that Soft Matte Lip Cream has a vanilla scent to it.

Here is a shade comparison with two other products which I really love from the same colour family:  Tom Ford Lip Color in Bruised Plum (review and lip swatches) and Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 738 Royal Plum   (review and swatches). NYX is in the middle.

Here are some photos from my Instagram showing me wearing Transylvania on the lips.

The price is £5.50 only and you can get if from Feel Unique along with tonnes of other shades. And it was very smart to name these lipsticks after the cities, because who wouldn’t want the shades with their favourite ones? Or maybe that’s just me…
