Tom Ford Lip Color in Bruised Plum Review and Lip Swatches

Today I want to tell you about a very famous product –  my first Tom Ford lipstick. I don’t know what took me so long to get one but I did it finally. I’ve bought it for my Birthday this month.

I’ve chosen a shade called Bruised Plum which is absolutely gorgeous.

So what is so special about this product? Is it worth the hight price tag £36/$49?

Of course, the first thing that I have to mention is the amazing packaging, a heavy and luxurious almost black case with gold details and a TF logo on top. It is simple, elegant and chic, timeless classic. Speaking of classic, Tom Ford Lip Color has that vanilla scent, which I personally associate with lipsticks.

What about the lipstick itself? I am extremely pleased with the colour that I’ve chosen, Bruised Plum  is a beautiful cool toned plum. Here is how it looks like compared with Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in 738 Royal Plum and Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in 06 Plum Russian.

It is definitely one of my favourite lip products colour wise now!

The brand promises that the lipstick is made of soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil create, among other ingredients, has an ultra–creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application.

That is true when your lips are in a perfect condition.  But I find that it can be drying, and also enhance all the dry patches,  if I did not prepare my lips beforehand.  For the price, it’s not the performance I’d expect.

In general, I think Tom Ford lipstick is a great product to buy if you want something luxurious and special. After all, $50 lipstick is definitely not a necessity.  But be prepared that it can be high maintenance, and it is not very forgiving, you lips have to be in perfect condition.

Now I want a TF blush!

Tom Ford beauty is available from: Harrods, Selfridges, Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman.
