It’s that time of the year when the brands are bringing out new base products. I have posted about a few foundations already (Tom Ford, Bite Beauty, Estee Lauder). In fact, if you want to know more about the new launches follow me on Facebook.
But here is the preview of some primers, foundations and concealers that caught my attention, and I’ve chosen 6 items.
The one which I am curious to try myself is definitely the Givenchy Teint Couture City Balm, £38 later on from from Sephora, Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Harrods, Nordstrom, Escentual and Feel Unique. I wear very light city SPF products myself, and this sounds right up my street. Besides their Teint Couture line is great.
Laura Mercier, The Queen of base products launched 5 primers which have to be mentioned. Shown are the Pure Canvas Primer Illuminating (“enhancing Porcelain Flower Extract and a blend of Micronized Pearls, the primer imparts a healthy glow on skin”) and Pure Canvas Primer Hydrating (“Olive Extract visibly smooths and locks in hydration while Marine Hydra Botanicals replenish skin and promote long term moisture recovery”). There are also Pure Canvas Primer Blurring, Pure Canvas Primer Protecting and Pure Canvas Primer Perfecting. $38 each from the website.
There are always new foundations out for Spring, and SS19 is not an exception, there are at least 10 new launches I can think of, on top of my head. So I’ve decided to choose a few different ones just to give you an idea of what is coming out. All foundations are available in many different colours, except Chanel.
I haven’t tried any of these so I am providing the official descriptions.
Guerlain L’ESSENTIEL NATURAL GLOW FOUNDATION 16H WEAR
“Naturalness & make-up performance come together for the first time at Guerlain. A foundation made with 97% naturally-derived ingredients with a natural glow finish that lasts for 16 hours. The complexion is perfect, luminous and fresh. The comfortable texture becomes one with the skin, making it ideal for buildable coverage (light to medium)”
Not sure what I think of the quirky bottle but it definitely stands out, and the foundation sounds like something I personally would love.
HOURGLASS Vanish Seamless Finish Liquid Foundation (£56/$51)
“Weightless, instant full coverage is delivered through the formula’s innovative coated pigments – allowing for seamless application and long-wearing,second-skin adherence. A natural finish is delivered through light-refracting microspheres, blurring and
As usual, there are quite a few new foundations out for SS, so let’s take a look at some of them.
The shades shown are: B20 Ivory, Fair R150 – fair w/ pink undertones, Barcelona – Medium 4 – medium with golden peachy undertones and 80 Ebony – very deep with neutral undertone.
This is the base I am personally mostly excited about as I am a huge fan of the Touche Eclat. I am also loving the promo image with Zoe Kravitz, obviously.
“Touche Eclat All-In-One Glow Tinted Moisturizer is a skin-loving, all-in-one medium coverage tinted moisturizer with SPF 23 that evens complexion, eliminates dullness and smooths fine lines. The finest pigments and ingredients that respect and care for the skin. The formula is oil-free, non-comedogenic, talc-free and dermatologist tested. The coverage is buildable from light to medium”.
DIOR Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation, $52 from Nordstrom
“A 24-hour, ultra-fluid, water-based foundation blends full coverage with a lightweight formula to deliver a natural, matte finish that goes from day to night”.
So, after I’ve posted a preview of Rouge Bunny Rouge SKIN SOUL DROPS Foundation Essence, it is time for a proper review.
So here are my thoughts about it:
The packaging is gorgeous, the product comes in a black cupboard tube with the signature RBR design. Te bottle itself is a dark matte glass, the foundation comes with a dropper.
The price is almost €60 (€59) which seems really expensive for 15ml but, as the name suggests, it is an essence which means that it is a very concentrated liquid. You need a tiny drop for your face, and it will last you for ages.
The brand describes the finish as demi-matte, and I agree. It gives that flawless coverage and evens out the skin tone perfectly. Just make sure you add some dimension back with a blush or whichever product you prefer.
Skin Soul Drop is not really an on-the go foundation. The application takes some time, and you can’t just “slap it on”. I like applying it with two brushes. A classic flat synthetic foundation brush (something like this one) to spread it out evenly and a kabuki brush (like Sigma) to blend it into the skin.
I personally think that
