I wrote a pretty extensive guide to Mother’s Day beauty gifts last year so this year I will just post an updated version of what’s in my Mum’s makeup-bag.
My Mum doesn’t really wear makeup that much, and when she does she wants it to be quick, effortless and very easy. She will never be blending 5 eye shadows or mixing lipsticks together.
After analysing her lifestyle and listening to her concerns, here are the four products we’ve added to her routine (she does use foundation and mascara for special occasions or when she is feeling like it). She has great skin, especially for her age, and dark lashes and eye brows so we’ve decided that a bit of concealer, and colour for the lips and cheeks will be enough. I’ve also insisted on adding highlighter to her routine, it makes such a difference.
Maybelline Instant Conceal Eraser Concealer Ivory, £8.99 Boots and from Superdrug.
It’s takes a few seconds to twist and apply, and it really helps with the dark circles.
Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Light in Light, £7.99 from Boots and Superdrug.
This is such a beautiful and easy to use little gem, you can apply it directly from the stick and blend it with your fingers. I love the healthy glow it creates. And so does Mum.
Sadly, I’ve realised that both blush and lipstick are not available anymore but they suit my Mum really nicely, and she really loved both. The blush is Clarins Multi-Blush Cream Blush in 02 Candy and the lipstick is Dior Dior Addict Lipstick in 680 Afterparty.
Lipstick is my Mum’s favourite makeup in general, and she has quite a few, and some of her favourites are from Dior which are available from Nordstrom, Selfridges, from Saks, Escentual,Sephora.
As for the perfume, she currently loves using little sample sized ones, and discovering new fragrances so I don’t think she has a current favourite.
